"Error while processing statement: Cannot modify resultset.use.unique.column.names at runtime" while using Hive ODBC from Tableau

Problem Description:
When using Server Side properties at Hive ODBC DSN with Tableau reports, the following error is displayed:
org.apache.hive.service.cli.HiveSQLException: Error while processing statement:
Cannot modify resultset.use.unique.column.names at runtime.
It is not in list of params that are allowed to be modified at runtime
org.apache.hive.service.cli.HiveSQLException: Error while processing statement:
Cannot modify groupby.orderby.position.alias at runtime.
It is not in list of params that are allowed to be modified at runtime
The following are the set properties:
hive.groupby.orderby.position.alias = true
hive.resultset.use.unique.column.names = false

Cause:
This is a known issue with Tableau, which removes the hive. part from the properties set under Hive ODBC DSN. The Hortonworks ODBC works as expected
Solution:
To resolve this issue, set the properties like hive.hive. in the Tableau.
Example
hive.hive.groupby.orderby.position.alias = true
hive.hive.resultset.use.unique.column.names = false

Hi Sindhu: Thanks for your post above, which may be relevant to a problem I am having with Tableau - I have two dev. boxes - I can connect to the Hortonworks Sandbox on one machine with no problems, but not on the other. You state above "To resolve this issue, set the properties like hive.hive in Tableau". My question: how do I do that from Tableau? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, and best wishes, Michael Martin
